Assemblies, Resilience Workshops & School Celebrations
In today’s dynamic world, resilience is not just a desirable trait, it’s a fundamental life skill essential for navigating academic pressures, social challenges and future success. I offer age appropriate assemblies, celebration speeches & workshops for both primary and secondary schools to actively build this crucial quality in your students.
Why Resilience is Essential
Modern students face a unique set of challenges. Developing the ability to bounce back from setbacks equips them to thrive, not just survive. Resilience acts as a protective factor for mental wellbeing, helping students manage stress, anxiety and low self-esteem. Academically, it ensures they maintain perseverance when faced with difficult subjects or poor grades, driving greater academic success. Crucially, it fosters key traits like problem solving, adaptability and emotional regulation, making your students ready for the workplace and life after school.

We’re all going to have some bad days, we’re all going to have some good days, but the trick is how do we make sure we have more good than bad. That’s where resilience and emotional intelligence comes in.
Over 20 years supporting schools to inspire
How I do this
I deliver a series of year group assemblies and interactive workshops. The assemblies bring year groups together to hear real life stories of resilience, perseverance and achievement aiming to spark inspiration and opening up important conversations. Smaller group workshops then go deeper, giving pupils the chance to actively explore resilience skills and emotional intelligence. Practical, engaging and relevant, these sessions help young people build the confidence and teamwork skills they need both inside and outside the classroom.
Assemblies or Award Presentations
It’s not all about the medals – but they will make an appearance!
Using language that is appropriate for the audience in front of me in either a primary or secondary school setting, this is a thought provoking, emotional and challenging presentation. Hear how I changed from being a shy seven year old, being teased about my disability and looks, into a successful IT Sales Consultant, Director of my own business and even a double Paralympic medallist! I will take the audience on an emotional journey of the highs and lows of my life. I don’t believe that practice makes perfect. I do believe that life is a constant path to progression. Let me inspire your students at either an assembly or awards ceremony to follow their own path and be empowered to be more, achieve more and above all, smile more.
Learning to bounce back and move forward – Resilience Workshops
Inspiring students to build confidence, courage and a positive mindset.
This engaging 60 minute session is tailored for all ages across primary and secondary education. It’s a lively, practical workshop packed with stories, strategies and real-life lessons that bring the concept of resilience to life.
Drawing on my journey from Paralympic judo medallist to successful business leader, I help students understand how resilience shaped my achievements and how they can develop it in their own lives.
Through interactive discussion and relatable examples, I explore:
- Finding purpose and staying motivated through challenges
- Building mental toughness and managing self-talk
- The power of trusted support networks
- Why asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness
Students will leave inspired, equipped with practical tools and ready to face whatever comes their way in school, sport and life.

Holtspur School
Ian delivered an outstanding assembly and workshop for our school. His energy, warmth, and sense of humour instantly captured the attention of every child and member of staff. His story of resilience and determination was not only inspiring, but incredibly accessible for our pupils – they were fully engaged from start to finish. The activities were interactive, thoughtful, and perfectly pitched for all ages. We’ve already seen the impact in how confidently the children have been talking about overcoming challenges. We would highly recommend Ian to any school looking for an uplifting, motivating and memorable experience. He was exceptional.
